The benchmark
GoPro is the brand most people think of first, with excellent stabilisation, a mature app and the biggest range of mounts and accessories around. Each HERO generation stays on sale for a while after its replacement arrives, so older models are often good value.
GoPro
Best for The best all-round GoPro
GoPro's flagship records 5.3K at 60fps, with HyperSmooth 6.0 stabilisation, front and rear screens, and support for swappable HB-Series lens mods.
GoPro
Best for A first action camera, or a tiny second angle
GoPro's smallest 4K camera weighs just 86g, with a rear touchscreen and simple controls. A light, low-cost way into the GoPro range.
Stabilisation is applied afterwards in the GoPro Quik app, not in the camera.
GoPro
Best for Vlogging and POV in dim light
A compact GoPro with a built-in light for filming at dusk, indoors or for close-up vlogging, recording 4K at 60fps.
Stabilisation is applied in the GoPro Quik app, according to GoPro's manual.
GoPro
Best for 360° reframing and invisible-selfie-stick shots
GoPro's 360° camera records 8K spherical video and doubles as a 4K60 single-lens action camera, with replaceable lenses.
GoPro
Best for Filmmakers and serious creators
GoPro's compact cinema camera pairs a 1-inch, 50MP sensor with 8K60 recording, for creators who want near-professional image quality in a rugged body.
Part of GoPro's new MISSION line, aimed at filmmakers rather than everyday action use.
Not seeing what you need? Amazon UK may carry more gopro cameras than we list here.
Search Amazon UKNo. The camera works fully without one. GoPro's optional subscription adds cloud backup and some extras, so it's worth checking what's included before you sign up.
GoPro's two-prong "finger" mount has become a de facto standard, and many other brands either use it or include an adaptor. Check the listing for the specific camera.
